What is Image Masking?
When masking photos or products, only the intentional image content is displayed, thus the rest of the image is invisible. It is another way of removing an image’s background, especially when it is complex and there are multiple details like hair, fur or fibres. Layer masks can be adjusted later while the original image remains behind the mask. When using this way – contrary to clipping – no image information is permanently removed. Different types of image masking exist, like alpha channel masking and layer masking among others.
